Positive Impact and Mindset | North Dallas Moms

Anyone else trying to be the best … everything?

As Mom’s we all wear so many hats throughout every single day. Whether we’re single moms, or wives, stay at home moms or working moms – the title mom comes with a million plus littler and big responsibilities.

Not going to lie, it’s overwhelming at times.

But you know what – it’s all attitude – and how cool is it that we GET to be a mom? We get to love and care for these little people who rely on us and love us so unconditionally. We get to watch them grow and learn and nurture their creativity. What an absolute joy, honestly.

But, of course, sometimes it’s like the saying – the days are long but the years are short. And sometimes you’re in the trenches.

I’ve found some things that have helped me tremendously so I wanted to pass them on, in hopes they might help you too!

There is so much self help and self development available to all of us these days through Social Media, Podcasts, Self Help Books etc. that it starts to feel overwhelming. Have you ever been in a place where there is so much you could be doing, but you don’t know where to start so you don’t do any of it? I think we are all over stimulated with all of the things we could be doing. So how do we silence all the noise and get focused on what works for your life and unique personality?

This is a question only you can answer.

I will tell you how I started getting focused and what worked for me. First, I wanted to focus on one thing and for me that was working out. I was in pretty much every sport you can think of growing up, so I think it is in my DNA to exercise; otherwise I don’t seem to function properly. But after two c sections I wasn’t feeling motivated to get going.

So I made a small attainable goal and asked a friend (Mykie, of course) to be my accountability partner.

My small goal was to work out two days a week. The hardest part was just getting myself to show up. After three weeks of completing my twice a week goal, I started to feel like I could do more. I soon upped the work outs to 3 – 4 times a week; and now six months down the road I have a daily goal of making sure I move at least 30 minutes a day. I rarely miss this goal, and I will say accomplishing this makes me feel like I can do anything else in my life! Maybe working out does nothing for you, but the point is to pick something you want to work on and give yourself tiny goals to start and once you’re more motivated, add on!

The next thing I wanted to work on was instead of worrying about what I didn’t have or wasn’t accomplishing was to focus on that the truth is ~ I have a wonderful life filled with abundance. My small attainable goal I created for this was ordering a Gratitude Journal and I started journaling once a day about what I was grateful for that day. One overarching piece to this journey I have been on the last 6 months has been very spiritual for me. I decided that at any point in the day if I was feeling stressed or finding myself comparing myself in any way or talking down to myself; in those moments I would immediately start praying, giving whatever was bothering me to God.

What is interesting about this journey I have been on for six months is from a young age I knew I wanted to help people and I think a lot of us feel this way; but I never knew how or what that would look like. What I have learned is from focusing on my relationship with myself, God and my family; this has had more of an impact on others around me than anything else. I am blessed to manage a team of young professionals in my career and my actions speak louder than my words. My daily habits not only improve my families overall life; but have a direct impact on everyone I encounter.

I encourage each of you to write down one thing that you’d like to improve on in your life. What is a small manageable daily/weekly ritual you can commit to for yourself today?

Let us know how it works for you and also other tips and tricks you have!
