How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As a mom of two energetic boys, I constantly needed to keep them entertained while also
helping them develop their fine motor skills. I wanted activities that would channel their energy in a positive way and engage their curious minds.
This need sparked the idea for My Festi Goodies! I aimed to create fun, hands-on activities that not only captivated their attention but also supported their growth and development. By blending
play with learning, I’ve created a space where kids can explore, create, and learn—making every moment a joyful adventure!
What are the challenges of owning a small business?
Owning a small business comes with its fair share of challenges, and I’ve experienced many of them firsthand.
1. Balancing Responsibilities: Juggling the many roles—marketing, finances, customer
service—can be overwhelming, especially while managing family life.
2. Limited Resources: As a small business, we often have to work with limited budgets
and staff, which can make scaling or expanding more difficult.
3. Building a Customer Base: Attracting and retaining customers takes time and effort,
and competing with larger companies can be tough.
4. Adapting to Change: The market can shift rapidly, and staying flexible to adapt to new
trends and customer needs is crucial.
5. Time Management: Finding the right balance between work and personal life can be
challenging, especially when you’re passionate about your business.
6. Financial Uncertainty: Managing cash flow and planning for unexpected expenses can
be stressful.
Despite these challenges, the rewards of seeing my vision come to life and making a positive
impact on children’s learning experiences make it all worth it!
How do you balance motherhood and being a business owner?
Balancing motherhood and being a business owner is definitely a juggling act, but I’ve found a few strategies that help me manage both:
1. Set Clear Boundaries: I try to establish specific work hours and stick to them, allowing dedicated time for both my business and my family.
2. Prioritize Tasks: I focus on what’s most important each day, making to-do lists to keep me organized and efficient. This helps me make the most of my time.
3. Involve My Kids: Whenever possible, I involve my boys in my business. They love
helping out with activities, and it’s a great way for us to bond while teaching them about entrepreneurship.
4. Create a Support System: I lean on family and friends for support, whether it’s for childcare or simply someone to brainstorm ideas with.
5. Practice Self-Care: I carve out time for myself to recharge. Whether it’s a short walk, reading, or a quiet cup of coffee, taking care of my well-being helps me be more present in both roles.
6. Be Flexible: I embrace the unpredictability that comes with both motherhood and running a business. Sometimes, plans change, and that’s okay!
By staying organized and prioritizing what truly matters, I strive to create a fulfilling balance between my roles as a mom and a business owner. It’s a journey, but one I cherish every day!
