- Tell us a little bit about you!
My name is Loren Silas. I grew up in Garland, Texas and I’m a proud 5thgeneration Texan! I’m also a mother, wife, and small business owner in Frisco. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart, Michael, for almost 16 years. We met during our days at The University of Arkansas. I love spending time with my family and experiencing life with them. I opened The Lash Lounge Frisco a little over a year ago and I really enjoy being a business owner, especially in such a supportive community. I also love serving the community where I am raising my family. My passion is to help others look and feel their best!
- How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have two kids; Landry (daughter) 9, and Knox (son) 20 months
- What’s your favorite thing about being a mom?
I have so many favorite things about motherhood, it’s hard to pick just one! I really love just laughing with them, at them, and watching their precious sibling love grow. They make me who I am and I’m forever grateful that I get to be their mommy.
- How did you end up in Frisco?
After spending time in Arkansas, we moved back to Texas. Once we had our daughter, Landry, we really wanted a family community that also had a great education system. We fell in love with Frisco and it has proven to be one of the best decisions we have made for our family.
- What do you love about Frisco?
I love the education system, our neighbors, the community support, the kid friendly restaurants and activities, and endless opportunities for kids to excel in their passion from sports to music.
- What’s your favorite restaurant in Frisco?
- What’s your favorite place to shop in Frisco?
My favorite places to shop are Paper Affair, Learning Express and Nordstom. It’s hard to pick just one.
- What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “me time”?
Workout or go for a run while listening to a good podcast
- Tell us about your career.
I was a pharmaceutical rep with Eli Lilly for most of my career and then quit to spend more time with my family. I then went on to be a stay at home mom and part time speed, strength and conditioning coach. I loved being a stay at mom and coaching, but coaching became harder as my daughter got older because it was mostly all after school hours. I stopped shortly after she started kindergarten in order to spend more time with her. However, I still had a lot of time to think about what my dreams were outside of motherhood. Even though my family is my first priority, I have always wanted to have my own business. Being a business owner would eventually allow me the ability to make my own schedule that was flexible around my family. It was also a way that I could feed my drive, make some money to help support our family, and to give back to my community. We researched different businesses for years and decided that a great franchising opportunity was the best direction. My husband was ultimately the one who brought The Lash Lounge concept to me and encouraged me to take a leap of faith. The Lash Lounge was a perfect fit for what I had been looking for. It is a new franchise that strongly supports women empowerment in the beauty industry with a lot of growth opportunity. Currently, I am so proud to be the owner of The Lash Lounge Frisco (Lebanon and NDT) where I have a wonderful all women crew that is like family to me. I am also starting to get to spend more time with my kids again and I love having that balance between two things I love.
- What do you love about your career?
Mostly, I love my staff and building something that helps support these women build their careers in a positive environment. I also really enjoy the energy of the salon and the passion I feel to help each guest look and feel their best. The people that I’m around daily are what makes my job the best!
- What is one thing you look forward to every year?
My kid’s birthdays actually! It’s always surreal that on those days two of the biggest gifts from God were brought into my life. I couldn’t be prouder to be their mom.
- How do you juggle your career with being a mom and wife?
Some days better than others! I just try to do the
best that I can and give myself grace if everything isn’t always perfect. I also have support from my
friends, family and staff. I couldn’t do it without this supportive community of people around me. My mom especially has really been instrumental in helping me get this business off the ground while having a baby.
- What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
The best advice, even though it’s not always easy to follow, is to take care of yourself first. I can’t be a good business owner, friend, or family member if I don’t put my own life vest on first. I’ve bonded with so many moms over this topic. None of us are perfect and that’s ok! I try to always keep reminding myself of that.
- What’s one fun fact about you?
I had the fastest time in the Nation in the 100-meter hurdles my senior year of high school (amongst high schoolers) and was featured in Sports Illustrated.
