Healing Philosophy with Dr Alina

Healing Philosophy with Dr Alina

Dr. Alina believes that healing is multilayered and multifaceted. There isn’t a one-size fits all cure or treatment. At Whole Child Texas, our approach is slightly different from traditional medicine. We are not focused on just treating disease and symptoms; we treat the whole child by addressing all aspects of a child’s health—mind, body, emotions, spirit, family and parenting.

Name Bubbles

Name Bubbles

We said it before, but it bears repeating—back to school prep is best done in advance, and is a two-part process. We like to get the ordering of supplies (from pencils to labels)  out of the way in early Summer, so that we’re not hustling (and paying for express shipping!) in August. Then, late summer can be spent prepping ourselves and our kids for what’s to come (last minute bucket list trips, picking first day outfits, getting back on sleep schedules, etc.).

Vitamins for Healthy Teeth and Gums

Vitamins for Healthy Teeth and Gums

We all know brushing and flossing are key components to good oral hygiene, but did you know the nutrients you get from food can play a significant role in the overall health of your mouth, teeth, and gums? Unfortunately, because many of us don’t get the nutrients we need through food, this leads to nutrient deficiencies which can cause inflammation of the gums and lead to tooth loss.

Earth Day is April 22, and all of us at The Local Moms Network love celebrating with our kids—but try to keep it genuinely fun. Depending on the age of your little ones, celebrating Earth Day may be as simple as going for a walk outside in the stroller or as in depth as talking to teens about global warming. We’ve rounded up some great ways to note the occasion. Hope it gives you some inspiration for celebrating Mother Earth all year long!

Peep Rice Krispies Treats

Peep Rice Krispies Treats

If you’ve been following for a little bit, you’ve probably realized that I really like a good theme, especially when celebrating holidays. I came across these Peep Rice Krispies Treats on instagram and couldn’t wait to make them with my kids. They’re super easy and fun to decorate with some pastel sprinkles. I was a little too impatient when it came to letting them cool and harden which is why mine aren’t perfect looking, but it didn’t affect the taste at all. I hope you have as much fun making these as we did!

Blue Moon Perinatal

Blue Moon Perinatal

Tracy Shevell, MD, is founder of Blue Moon Perinatal and has been a High Risk OB-GYN for 16 years. “I chose to do High Risk OBGYN because I was always drawn to the most complex cases, encompassing needs of both mother and baby,” says Dr. Shevell. But over the last five years, she’s noticed  it’s become harder to give moms-to-be and new moms all the attention and support they need and deserve. To fill the gap in care, Dr. Shevell recently launched Blue Moon Perinatal, where she can offer one-on-one sessions to clients as a “bonus doctor” to support them in conjunction with their primary OB-GYN. Her goal is to educate and empower women to advocate for themselves while increasing accessibility and support. We spoke this Dr. Shevell about this amazing new venture:
